Toei Animation Museum

This museum sits inside Toei Animation's Oizumi Studio in Nerima ward, on the same grounds where the studio has worked for decades. The exhibits cover roughly 70 years of Toei history through production materials from Dragon Ball, One Piece, Pretty Cure and other franchises. Admission is free, and individual visitors don't need a reservation (the booking system is only for schools and groups of seven or more). It's about a 15-minute walk from Oizumi-Gakuen Station's north exit through an ordinary residential neighbourhood, and arriving at a working studio gate on foot is part of what makes it land.

Itinerary

Schedule for the day

Overview map showing how the stops relate to each other (straight lines only). For real walking directions, use the "directions" button on each step.

10:00 AM

Meet at Oizumi-Gakuen Station, North Exit

Seibu Ikebukuro Line, north side. The museum opens at 10:00, so there's no rush if you're a few minutes behind.

10:05 AM

Fifteen minutes through the neighbourhood

Head north from the station through quiet residential streets for about 15 minutes. There's nothing flashy on the way, which is exactly why the studio grounds register when they come into view.

10:20 AM

Enter the museum (2-10-5 Oizumi)

The museum is inside the Toei Animation Oizumi Studio grounds. Admission is free and individuals walk straight in. Hours are 10:00–17:00, last admission 16:30.

10:30 AM

Seventy years of production

Production materials and history from Dragon Ball, One Piece, Pretty Cure and other Toei series. If you've only ever seen the finished episodes, looking at the paper that came before them closes some of the distance.

11:45 AM

Walk back and eat near the station

Same 15-minute walk in reverse. Have lunch around the station; the same line takes you back toward Ikebukuro if you want to add Otome Road or Tokiwa-so in the afternoon.
